Learning Katakana

     Now for being so gung-ho about learning hiragana, one would think that I would have carried that same enthusiasm to the next step of learning katakana....  Well..... I didn't...

     For some reason, of which I'm not to sure, I just got lazy when it came to katakana.  I didn't treat it in the same manner I did hiragana.  What ended up happening was I haphazardly learned katakana from playing the first Gundam Breaker.

     That game was hard to navigate without English.  At the time there were a lot of people working on goolge docs and blogs to get through it.  Those resources are gone now and trying to play that game again without those pages just isn't doable....  besides, Gundam Breaker 3 has English.

     I really just wanted to build suits but you can't do that without collecting pieces... and you can't do that without farming... and you can't do that unless you know what stages the parts you want are in... and you can't do that until you confirm the correct stage because they got all swapped around after an update...  It's a pain now.

     But back to the important part of the story,  most all the mobile suits in the game were written in katakana.  It was almost rote repetition going through those lists.  I could pick out Sinanju easily.  I put so many hours into that game and by the end I could "read" nearly all the suit names.  Now I use the word "read" loosely because what I really mean is that I could recognize the suit names.

     Not putting in that same effort into memorizing katakana has been a set back for me.  These days I can read hiragana pretty naturally and quickly, however, when I read katakana I stumble over the kana I'm looking at and sound it all out slowly.  I need to go back and review.
