   Online Japanese keyboards are absolutely crucial if you don't have your keyboard setup for typing in Japanese.



    Insanely useful and pretty easy to use once you know hiragana at the very least.  The keyboard pictured here is at gate2home and it's the one I use most often.  You can start typing with romaji and beneath the letters pop options of hiragana, katakana, and kanji.  It's a tiny bit finicky with kanji but very workable.

There's also lexilogos's online keyboard as well.  Not as versatile but still very decent.
